What’s the best carpet flooring for homes with kids?

Kids are much more interested in playing than in the appearance and performance of a floor. Adults, therefore, need to balance stain resistance, durability and softness when choosing carpeting for kids.

There’s something for everyone at our carpet store. Just be sure to tell our experts exactly what you need.

Synthetic carpet fibers: the more practical choice

Fiber will be the most critical decision you'll make. Synthetics are often preferred for large families because of the budget and better stain resistance.

1.Nylon: This carpeting is known for its toughness. These rugs are also highly stain-proof when a protectant is used.

2.PET polyester: Made from recycled plastic bottles, this is non-allergenic, mold and mildew resistant, and non-absorbent. The resistance to stains is superior!

3.Triexta: This is known for extreme durability and permanent stain resistance built into the fiber. It's even used in some carpeting tested at kids' parties before coming to market.

4.Olefin: This budget-friendly carpet is also non-absorbent. It’s better, however,  for basements or playrooms as opposed to high traffic areas.

Carpet is a good floor covering for kids

Carpeting provides safety and plenty of cushioning for falls. In addition, it's a non-slip surface that eliminates the worry of kids not being able to stop when needed.

That can result in crashing into walls and injuring themselves. If they do fall, it’s on a soft surface!
